Harry Smoak is a Montréal-based American artist and PhD researcher at the Hexagram Institute for Research-Creation in Media Arts and Technologies, Concordia University (Special Individualized Program; supervisors Chris Salter, Sha Xin Wei, and Erin Manning). His artistic and research interests revolve around the conceptualization and development of experimental sensor-based interactive media environments.

Harry’s recent artistic collaborations and solo projects have been seen internationally at numerous festivals and venues such as the Venice Architecture Biennale (Venice), National Museum of China (Beijing), PACT Zollverein (Rhur), Transmediale (Berlin), Festival EXIT (Maison des Arts, Créteil-Paris), DEAF (Rotterdam), Place des Arts (Montréal), Elektra Festival (Montréal), Mois Multi (Quebec), EMPAC (NY), and Pixilerations (Providence).

He is a part-time faculty member and guest lecturer in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia where he teaches in areas of real-time media, immersive environments, and critical studies of media arts and techno-science. Harry is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology having received his Masters in Human-Computer Interaction.
